Carol Toledo Clark grew up in New Mexico where she lived in a traditional Navajo dwelling rich with its own culture and language. One of eight children, Ms. Clark is today married with three children and working as a special education teacher in her native town. The author got her bachelor's from Fort Lewis College, her special education certificate from Penn State University, and her master's in bilingual and bicultural education from the University of Arizona. Ms. Clark likes reading, sewing, traveling, and listening to Navajo radio.
