Peter LaBrie was born in Palmetto, Louisiana and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a professional city planner, a college teacher, and a writer, his work having appeared in journals such as Black Dialogues, Negro Digest, and The Review of Black Political Economy. Mr. LaBrie is a divorced father of two grown children and currently resides in the East Bay area of California.
