Synopsis
Bombing Harvey, by John Birges Jr. and Nina J. Arnold is a hybrid – part memoir, part novel, and all based on the true events surrounding the extortion/bombing plot that brought down a casino in Lake Tahoe in 1980, told by one of the participants in this incredible true crime narrative. The plot was hatched by the author’s father John Birges Sr. whose gambling addiction led him to create a plan to extort $3 million from Harvey’s Resort Casino by planting a 1000 pound bomb on the premises. What happens next, and how “Big John” involved both sons and implicated his own children in this nefarious plot will keep readers turning the pages in this truth-is-stranger-than-fiction literary debut.

About the Author
The author, John Birges, Jr., and his brother James Birges, were recruited by their father and also involved in the Harvey’s Resort Casino incident in 1980, eventually convicted of conspiracy to commit extortion, and given a sentence of three years felony probation. Their father, John Birges, Sr., was convicted and received a sentence of twenty years in prison – where he died in 1996 of liver failure at the age of seventy-four. The author resides in Southern California.
