Book Description This text provides a clear and non-threatening introduction to piano, designed to give students an understanding of music in general that they can take with them, whether or not they continue with the piano. About the Book PianoLab, Third Edition, is designed for you, the beginning student. It assumes no background in music but does assume you have a genuine interest in learning to play the piano and learning about music. As you learn to read and play, you will discover that reading notes and playing scales and chord progressions are not enough. You must also develop an understanding of how music is put together, how it "works," and how rhythm, melody, and harmony interrelate to form musical compositions. This musical understanding evolves mainly through performance but also through analysis, improvisation, transposition, harmonization, and composition. Helping you develop these keyboard skills and music concepts is the goal of PianoLab. 360 pages. Seller Inventory # WB045911
