9780534346553: Counseling Today’s Families

In this thorough revision of their practical, carefully researched book, the Goldenbergs focus on "doing" family therapy with different types of families, including single-parent-led families, blended families, cohabiting heterosexual couples, gay and lesbian couples, dual-career families, and ethnically diverse minority families. The authors examine current family structures and living arrangements, detail common problem areas from a family systems perspective, and offer intervention guidelines for working effectively with each family type.

"This is a workable text, mostly current in its descriptions of types of families and their problems. Further, many current theories (and some old ones) and current research reports are included."
