Mary K. Campbell is Professor Emeritus of chemistry at Mount Holyoke College, where she taught biochemistry, general chemistry, and physical chemistry, as well as advised undergraduates working on biochemical research projects. Her avid interest in writing led to the publication of many highly successful editions of this textbook. Originally from Philadelphia, Dr. Campbell received her Ph.D. from Indiana University and completed postdoctoral work in biophysical chemistry at Johns Hopkins University. Her areas of interest include researching the physical chemistry of biomolecules, specifically, spectroscopic studies of protein-nucleic acid interactions. She is also coauthor with Shawn Farrell on BIOCHEMISTRY, 7e (Cengage Learning).Review:
"The strength of the text is that it is clear, concise, colorful and current! The Biochemical Connections are very good, the students like them a lot. I would describe this as the very best, if not the only, biochemistry textbook on the market for an introductory, non-majors biochemistry course."
"I'm especially impressed by the Biochemical Connections, Special Interest boxes; these are excellent, and a good idea. These and the sections on Techniques and the Chapter Overviews are first-rate."
"I would describe the text as a colorful, easy-to-read introductory text on biochemistry that provides nice connections between biochemistry and the real world."
