This accessible and invaluable workbook-style reference guide will help your students smooth the transition from writing for composition classes to writing for psychology classes. Author Lenore T. Szuchman quickly and succinctly provides the basics of APA style in WRITING WITH STYLE. Szuchman's years of experience teaching writing-intensive courses give her an inside track on the trouble spots students often encounter when writing papers and dealing with APA style. The unique workbook format offers both a quick reference to APA style and interactive exercises that give students a chance to practice what they've learned. They'll be encouraged to use already published articles as models, so they're introduced to journal sources in a nonthreatening way. Szuchman pinpoints the kinds of errors that are often made, followed by suggested solutions.

"As an instructor who has struggled for years with trying to teach APA-style writing as part of the research methods class, this book is a god-send. By emphasizing the 'stock' words and phrases used by research psychologists, the author has identified a major route to teaching the most important parts of writing in psychology."
"Well written. The author is good at predicting the kinds of problems students tend to exhibit. . . I particularly like the exercises that require students to examine actual research articles and analyze the writing for format . . . I found myself saying 'Yes!' in response to issues that I find important, yet rarely covered in traditional textbooks."
"Makes explicit many of those implicit things that experts take for granted . . . I really enjoyed the narrative portions of this book. I think students would, too."
