The author has taught at Richardson High School in Richardson Texas for the past twelve years where she originated the popular mathematics consumer economics course on which this book is based. She was awarded a summer workshop grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1988. Her career has included teaching fundamentals of mathematics algebra geometry trigonometry analytic geometry and consumer mathematics at the junior high and high school levels. At Oak Ridge High School in Orlando Florida she was honored as teacher of the year in 1971. She attended Texas Christian University where she received a BachelorUs degree in 1966; in 1979 she took a MasterUs degree in Education from North Texas State University. She is married has two sons and lives in Dallas.
