Hilary is a talented artist who's having great difficulty accepting her parents' separation. Her sister is paralyzed in a dune buggy accident, and Hilary feels so guilty that her budding romance with fellow artist Jason short circuits. All ends happily, of course, with a first-prize art award, Jason's love, her sister's astonishing recovery, and her parents' reconciliation. A strong air of unreality hangs about, and the most important actions of the major characters are not well motivated. Also, there's an awful lot of weeping.
