A one-man play uses a variety of humorous characters to capture the joy, pain, and frustration of Hispanic Americans

This one-person play was written and performed by Leguizamo, who also wrote and acted in Mambo Mouth ( LJ 8/93). Both plays have won several awards and critical acclaim for offering wit, humor, and insight into Latino life. Spic-O-Rama is a painful 24-hour snapshot of a family, with viewpoints from all the family members as portrayed by Leguizamo. From the forgotten children to the recovering veteran, from the bitter wife to the philandering husband, the various points of view contribute to the work's diverse whole. An important addition to drama collections, although the written word does not convey the nuances and energy of Leguizamo's live performance.
