Isabella Ricci has found the perfect roommate. Quiet, clean, and considerate, Lisa Fontaine is totally interested in Isabella's life. But maybe she's a little too interested...
Lisa starts to dress and talk like Isabella, and instantly hits it off with all her Sweet Valley friends, especially best friend Jessica Wakefield. But Lisa crosses the line when she takes Isabella's clothes, cuts and dyes her hair just like Isabella's, and sneaks into Isabella's boyfriend Danny Wyatt's room.
Suddenly Isabella is scared. Lisa seems dead set on taking her friends, her identity...maybe even her life.

Where am I? Isabella's cheek was pressed against something smooth and soft--leather. Slowly she opened her eyes and blinked a few times. People rushed by, a few of them looking at her with disapproving glances. When her vision cleared, she spotted the wall of mailboxes several feet away. I'm in the student union.Isabella swung her legs around and sat up, her muscles aching. The events of the previous day came crushing down on her like an avalanche. It's not a nightmare, she thought. It's all real. Isabella sobbed quietly as she remembered Danny's cold eyes, the Thetas rejecting her. It was all too painful to think about.
"It looks like someone had a little too much to drink last night," a stranger whispered loudly to the person she was walking with. The stares and rude comments bounced off Isabella, wearing her heartache like a shield. She'd been through it all--nothing else could possibly hurt her. Isabella struggled to stand up. Her body was stiff and her clothes were still damp. The burning sensation in her stomach reminded her that she hadn't eaten for nearly twenty-four hours. But the physical discomfort couldn't even compare to the pain that was in her heart. Isabella slipped out the back door, praying she wouldn't run into anyone she knew. The bright sunlight blinded her, and even though it was warm on the surface of her body, deep beneath her skin the chill was still there. She shivered convulsively, certain that a fever was coming on. Did Lisa leave the apartment yet? In the distance Isabella looked toward the window to their apartment. The morning sun reflected brightly against the glass, making it impossible to tell if it was safe for her to go in. I have to get in there one last time--I need that box. It was already too late to change Jessica or Danny's mind about things, but there was always the chance that the police might listen to what Isabella had to say. Isabella hid herself behind the dumpster on the side of the building, waiting for Lisa to come out. And finally she did. Dressed in a wraparound floral skirt, white bodysuit, jean jacket, and high heels, Lisa strutted out of the apartment building, sliding a pair of designer sunglasses on her face. On the outside, she was the perfect picture of confidence and class, but on the inside, Isabella knew that ice ran through her veins.
"It's show time," Isabella whispered to herself as Lisa walked away. Stealthily she moved from behind the dumpster and entered the vestibule of the building, careful not to be seen. She had to hurry--there was no telling how much time she had before Lisa returned.
