Italian author Primo Levi's two books of poetry, "Shema" and "Ad Ora Incerta", are collected here for the first time in English translation. Levi's poems concentrate on World War II, a period of his life when he was incarcerated in Auschwitz, and the psychological after-effects of his survival. Other books by Primo Levi now available in English translation include "The Periodic Table", "If This is a Man", "The Truce", "If Not Now, When?", "Moments of Reprieve" and "The Wrench".

Primo Levi (1919-87) was born in Turin and worked as an industrial chemist until 1943, when he was captured as a partisan and sent to Auschwitz. The memoirs and essays that followed, If This Is a Man, The Truce and The Drowned and the Saved, were reflections upon his experience as a prisoner and a survivor. A later autobiography, The Periodic Table, as well as several short stories and a novel, further established his literary reputation. His two books of poetry, Shema and Ad ora incerta, were released after his death as Collected Poems.Language Notes:
