Synopsis

Set in Melbourne, Australia, during the economic rationalistic 1990s, it is offers much commentary on our obsession with materialistic goods and the soulless nature of business and its pursuit of ever-increasing profit regardless of the environmental or social consequences. But it is also a look at how love can conquer all -- as long as you have more than $3 to your name. From celebrated author Elliot Perlman, Three Dollars is the deft, passionate portrait of a man coming to terms with his place in an increasingly hostile and corporate world, while struggling to retain his humanity, his heart, and his sense of humor.
