This book is in good ex-library condition with associated markings and attachments and dust jacket protected by clear library sleeve. 'Monk's Mead is a famous garden, designed by the great Gertrude Jekyll. Under the terms of its financial trust, it is open to the public all the year round. But now the place is running down: it's more than the Mortlock family, who inherited it, can manage. Attendances are falling, perhaps as a result of the scandal of old Mrs Mortlock's death - a mercy killing by members of the family, it was hinted at the inquest.
