In 1960, Ethiopian king Haile Selasse annexed Eritrea, a former Italian colony, circumventing a Federal arrangement brokered by the United Nations. The Eritreans, who were dismissed as bandits by the king, initiated a Revolution which would carry on for 30 years. "Of Kings and bandits" narrates the early days of the revolution from the perspective of a young boy and provides a great deal of insight about African wars and the innocent people, including some who would now be called "Child soldiers"--who are caught in the crossfire.
