Their lives are turned upside down when Barry, his two granddaughters, and their dog Rosie welcome a new addition to the family--Floyd, an adorable Rottweiler puppy.

PreSchool-Grade 2?Two little girls are thrilled when their grandfather announces that a puppy named Floyd will join their family. Rosie, their gentle black and brown Rottweiler, is not thrilled at first but gradually comes to accept the puppy, even reciprocating the unconditional love Floyd demonstrates for her. In time, even the cats and Rosie's friend Oscar, a Chihuahua, look more kindly on the newcomer just as Isabelle came to accept and love her little sister, Eliza. This is the third collaboration between the artist and his granddaughter. The animals and the human family are equally well portrayed here as they were when first introduced in My Dog Rosie (1994) and My Cats Nick & Nora (1995, both Scholastic). Slyly humorous, well-crafted, and well-placed watercolors from unique perspectives complement the understated, highly recognizable personalities presented in the straightforward text.?Maria B. Ages 3^-6. Moser and his granddaughter continue their autobiographical picture-book stories about their family pets. The opening double-page spread shows Grandpa (who looks a lot like Moser) sprawled on the grass with two small girls, Isabelle and her sister, Eliza. With them are their cats and their dog, Rosie. They are talking about the new puppy, Floyd, and whether Rosie will like the newcomer. The story is slight: at first Rosie isn't sure she likes the puppy, but soon they enjoy each other's company. What kids will love are Moser's bold, lovingly individualized watercolor portraits of the kids and the dogs, the bonds between them and the fun they have. Hazel Rochman
