"When Willa returns, I'll be waiting."
Contra Costa Times

"[Justice Denied] is like a really good episode of television's West Wing!"
—Debbie Neckel, Book Crazy Radio

Tampa's flamboyant Judge Wilhelmina Carson returns in the third installment of this well-loved series. Ron Wheaton dies in Judge Willa's home at the height of Tampa's Gasparilla Pirate Fest, drawing Willa into a deepening morass of deceit as she rushes to defend her long-time secretary from accusations of murder.

Tampa's Gasparilla Pirate Festival provides the backdrop for jewelry theft, bank fraud, and murder. Just as Judge Willa is recovering from the shock of meeting her father's new trophy wife, Margaret Wheaton, Judge Willa's long-time friend and secretary, becomes mysteriously involved with a nefarious jeweler. When both Margaret's husband and the jeweler end up dead, Margaret is the number one suspect. But Willa's Dad could be the killer, too. Willa sets out to prove them both innocent and takes the reader on a ride through Tampa's month long pirate party, with twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end: whodunnit?

About the Author:

M. Diane Vogt has been a practicing lawyer for over twenty years. She is the author of three Wilhelmina Carson novels and several works of non-fiction. Diane lives with her husband, Robert, and their dog, Molly, in Tampa and Northern Michigan.

From Publishers Weekly:

The Gasparilla Parade of Pirates, "Tampa's much smaller version of Mardi Gras," takes center stage in Vogt's third workmanlike novel (after Silicone Solution and Justice Denied) to feature Judge Wilhelmina Carson, the federal District Court judge who likes to involve herself in criminal investigations before they can reach her court. As Judge Willa adjusts to the shock of meeting her estranged father's new, very smart and attractive 23-year-old wife, who's pregnant to boot, the terminally ill husband of the judge's long-term secretary, Margaret, dies in the private social and service club operated by Willa's ex-banker husband. The police suspect Margaret did her husband in. In her efforts to protect her employee, Judge Willa uncovers Margaret's concealed past, investigates a thoroughly corrupt high-fashion jewelry designer and, with help from her father, exposes a long-term scheme of bank fraud and peculation. The author, a practicing lawyer, allows Judge Willa to put herself in several situations that most federal judges would avoid as unethical if not illegal, only some of which matter to the plot. Anyone who has ever had cause to resent a trophy wife will identify with Willa's emotional dilemma and cheer her resolution of it.
