Born and raised outside a Midwest prison town Mr. Gandert studied English at a small Florida college designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. After a brief career as a teacher he completed an M.A. degree in Counseling Psychology and moved to Florida where he worked for many years in the mental health and employee assistance field. Later he moved to the San Francisco bay area where he studied Beat poetry through visiting the many fine used and rare bookstores of the region. In 1994 he met a Creative Writing teacher in North Carolina and through his encouragement published his first short story in the small presses.Mr. Gandert has traveled much of the country and Western and Eastern Europe. In 2001 he earned an MBA with an emphasis in international healthcare. He is married to the girl of his dreams, a successful stage actress and voiceover talent. Mr. Gandert makes his home with five indoor cats and many outside birds in suburban Georgia. He enjoys playing piano, drinking strong coffee, and shooting black and white photos. This is his first collection of stories and poems.
