Whalley, an entomologist at the British Museum, specializiing in lepidoptera, tells how to identify 147 common species of butterflies and caterpillars and how to attract them with plants. This is beautifully illustrated with more than 200 color photographs. It is the right size for a shirt pocket or a hip pack, for handy consultation. This is the volume you need for field trips. Not to be confused with Whalley's oversize Dictionary of Butterflies and Moths in Color, which he co-wrote with Allan Watson. A scarce copy of this work. 128 pages, index, abundantly illustrated. Edition not stated but appears to be a first.
