About the Author:

Zoe M. Hicks is an attorney with the firm of Hicks and Hicks, PC (specializing in estates and trusts, tax exempt organizations and charitable tax planning). She is also an author writing primarily in the Christian inspirational genre. She received her AB, JD, and LLM (Master of Laws in Taxation) degrees from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Hicks has lectured and written widely on Christian inspirational, estate planning and charitable giving topics. She authored The Women s Estate Planning Guide (Contemporary Books, 1997), to help women understand and apply the tax and fiduciary laws for the benefit of themselves and their families. She also wrote Dream Catcher, the Power of Faith (Prayer Point Press, 2005) and Abundant Living (Lighthouse Press, 2009), Christian inspirational books.

She is a founding faculty member of the American Institute for Philanthropic Studies in Los Angeles, California, past president of the Georgia Plan Giving Council, past chair of the Fiduciary Law Section State Bar of Georgia, past president of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Federal Tax Conference, past president of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, and a former member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. She serves as a board member or advisory board member of several charitable organizations in Atlanta including the Oxford College Board of Counselors (current Board chair), a member of the Emory Gift Planning Advisory Council (past chair), vice chair of the Georgia United Methodist Foundation Board, an advisory board member of Action Ministries Inc., an advisory board member for Breakthru House Inc., an advisory board member of the Women s Resource Center of DeKalb County, GA and an advisory board member of the National Museum of Patriotism in Atlanta. She has also taught classes to women at the Atlanta Union Mission on the power of faith. She was the 2008 recipient of the Greater Good award, presented each year by the Georgia Plan Giving Council to a professional advisor and the 2011 recipient of the Unsung Heroine Award presented by Emory University to a woman who has had a significant impact on other women, but not previously been recognized.

Ms. Hicks and her husband, Charles, established Encouragement Unlimited Inc. in 2006, a Foundation whose mission is to empower, equip and encourage marginalized women to overcome and succeed. She is a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, Georgia where she is a youth mentor, a Disciple Bible Teacher, and co-chair of the UMW task force to build a school in Liberia.
