About the Author:
One of my earliest memories is of my grandparents dogs. My grandfather was a hunter and kept a kennel full of Beagles while my grandmother had a Chihuahua named Tina. I was not allowed near the Beagles, they were working dogs after all, not pets, and Tina was my grandmother s protector and just too mean to allow me to get too close. So...I started bringing home strays. When I married my husband, Ron, and we started our own family we always had a dog or two in the house, but raising four children was the primary focus. The children grew up and as they were becoming young adults, the Chihuahua Revolution began with the arrival of sweet Kahlua. Suddenly, I found myself with the time, the means and the passion to adopt, love and care for several pups. The size of the brood was never planned. It s just that I could not pass by a pup in need of rescue...from a shelter, an unhappy home, or needing to be liberated from a cage in a lonely pet shop. When we were able to build our dream house, Palazzo Riggi, great care was taken to provide for the comfort of every member of the family, including the pups whose number had grown to thirteen, (I mentioned it was a passion, didn't I?). Not only do they have an indoor/outdoor environment of their own, but all areas of the Palazzo were designed with them in mind, (even the supports for the handrails were spaced close enough to keep little dog heads from squeezing through and getting stuck). Ron has always been my willing accomplice and his love for the pups runs as deeply as mine, having his own relationship with each one. The idea for this book was a spontaneous reaction to Terri-Lynn s simple request to photograph me with my seventeen pups, (thirteen...seventeen? What s your point?). It was obvious that her love for animals ran as deep as mine, and so began Posh Palazzo Pups , a glimpse into the personalities and fantasy world of twenty-four, (well...it took a while), very lucky dogs.
