This is a self-help book for women who become in a situation that they are not expecting to be in. After a spouses death many things have to be taken care of, and if you are not prepared it could cause more headackes and anxiety to your life. Learn from the things that happened to me, and don't be intimidated by lawyers, financial people, family, or anyone else that is telling you what to do. It is true you shouldn't do anything for one year after the death of a loved one. However, when your spouse dies and you have to have things filed, accoutability and family trust are to be made up right away. You do not have the luxury of waiting to do this. Forms have to be sent in and finding all the assets and moving them into your name or the estates name is now your job. This is job that you didn't sign up for or want. But, you are stuck with it and have to manage it for the rest of your life.. If you are not a numbers person, and hard to accepting the invasion of your privacy by strangers into your home, then you will not like being the manager of your husbands' estate. It is messy, ongoing, not fun, and you can never escape its' claws. It is a class that you can never not attend. If you do not understand all the laws, rules and moving around assests you are in big trouible. This is what happened to me, this is my story and hopefully just one woman will pick it up before the death of her mat and start to organize herself and understand the entire concept of financial management of estates. After the estate is closed it is transfered into a trust. Just another name of an ongoing management of the funds and keeping all these things streight will be very hard if you are not an organized person. Hopefully you can learn from me and think of different aveniues to take that will help you and relieve some of the stress.
