This book is really the title: it is a compilation of my 10 most important life truths--things I really wish someone had told me a long time ago. But there were precious few female mentors. I was lucky to have a few amazing men who shared their time and knowledge with me and stepped into that mentor role from time to time. But mentoring has not traditionally been an embedded part of a woman's growth process. Men have sports and team play and the old boys' club after all. Until recently, women didn't even have sports. It's just the way it was and it is only beginning to improve.
