Welcome to the sexiest, wildest ride you'll take. Meet Brea Harper, she is the next Carrie Bradshaw only transplanted in Los Angeles. Funny, witty, beautiful, and very sexy, Brea takes readers on a wild ride into her outrageous romantic and professional life. Demoralized and forced to work in what she calls bikini hell just to make ends meet, Brea pursues her career to become a screenwriter only to be continuously distracted by hot men. Delightfully misguided, Brea makes poor choices many women of all ages will find highly relatable. She is one of those unforgettable characters readers love to love.

Brea Harper is a classic California girl: blond and beautiful, but smarter than the rest. When her job as an editor at a local magazine disappears, she moves to Los Angeles on a whim to pursue her lifetime dream of becoming a scriptwriter. But more adventures await her than just a struggle to break into the business. Brea also gets sucked into a series of romantic mishaps with three men. Lance, who suggested she move in the first place, is her roommate with benefits, whom she shacks up with until she can get her own place. Drew is the singer in a local band, with whom she has intense chemistry, but for some reason, can never get any kind of relationship off the ground. And Kale is a Hollywood producer who mentors Brea and truly loves her, but can't save her from herself. Naturally, the combination of these three men is a catastrophe waiting to happen, and when her romances collide, life really gets complicated. Michelle Gamble-Risley's debut novel, California Girl Chronicles, Book 1, is a wild ride. Like so many romance novels, the storyline is rather lacking in substance but rich in romantic encounters. Brea freely admits to loving sex, and that definitely shows in the frequency with which it occurs; the sex is hot and steamy, but many readers will find those passages altogether too short to be satisfying. Her job in a bikini shop provides a good deal of comic relief, breaking up both the sexy and more serious parts of the plot with ease and allowing the author's wit to shine through. Readers disappointed with what can easily be labeled a non-conclusive ending can take comfort in the fact that this is only the first book, and Brea's escapades will surely be continued in future volumes. --San Francisco Book Review
My impassioned love for literature encompasses a vast diversity of genres, however I have never deemed a work of contemporary romance to be worthy of my rapt attention until I discovered California Girl Chronicles: Brea and The City of Plastic at the Miami Book Fair International. Not only is this infinitely entertaining escapade worthy of rapt attention, it is also worthy of tremendous praise. Michelle Gamble-Risley has revolutionized romantic literature and taken it to new heights with this compelling character study, which is destined to be a critically-acclaimed, bestselling hit garnering a massive following from readers of all backgrounds. Michelle Gamble-Risley s erotic and enticing prose will catalyze an indelible case of insomnia as she takes you on a rollercoaster rendezvous with Brea Harper, whose wild adventures - both romantically and professionally - will strum your heartstrings and cause you to scream with delight, cry with empathy, and laugh until you collapse. In Book 1 of this captivating series, you will be introduced to our protagonist, whose beauty, brilliance, and scandalous addiction to sex catapults her into a myriad of complex relationships as she simultaneously strives to fulfill her dreams to become a screenwriter. Gamble-Risley proves to be not only masterful at character development but also in conveying the complexities of fervent, intense, and sometimes entirely dysfunctional relationships with clever dialogue and scenes of sex and intimacy that will make you blush. Brea s men are diverse yet altogether appealing. There s the mediocre yet secure Lance, with whom she lives with in order to begin her fledging career as a screenwriter in LA. Then, there is the dreamboat movie producer, Kale, who sweeps her off her feet in ecstasy. Lastly, we have the torturous, seemingly intangible, Band Boy Drew, who proves to catalyze a tremendous amount of drama for the entire cast of characters involved in this frolicsome escapade. Brea s female friends include a feisty, beautiful, loyal, lesbian Latina, Maya, who provides support, protection, and advice to our adventurous protagoni --Confessions of a Book Goddess

Michelle s first novel is refreshingly honest. With Brea, we see and experience things that most women think but rarely admit. The narration is playful and humorous, though we can easily feel Brea s conflict and dilemmas at the right moments. The dialogue is enticing yet real, which Michelle uses to bring more depth to her characters than initially meets the eye. Since Book 1 is such a fun read, I can t wait to see what new adventure Brea will take in Book 2. Honestly, I think I may like this even more than Sex and the City. --The New Book Review
