Tanya Michelle is a native of La Marque, Texas. She received a Bachelors of Science in Communications from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, and a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from LeTourneau University in May 2011. She became a certified teacher in 2006, and she has taught diverse groups of children, including both ESL and Bilingual students. Tanya Michelle has dreamed of writing childrens books ever since she was a little girl. Her journey to writing began while constantly being surrounded by childrens books in her current profession as an elementary school teacher. Although teaching is her passion, she believes that writing is her true calling. She draws inspiration from real life situations and real world events. Her desire is to address issues that children face while instilling purpose, hope and inspiration. Her literary career began while mentioning to close friend, Bryan-Keyth Wilson, that she had secretly written several childrens books. All the while, he too had the secret desire to start up a publishing company. This divine appointment led the childhood friends to put their dreams and faith to work, and thus, she became the first author to release a book under his new publishing company, Bees Ink Publishing. Tanya Michelle is currently working to promote her first book, The President Looks Like Me, and is also working on her second book with a tentative release date for Winter 2012. Please stay tuned for the next book that is sure to encourage and inspire children and adults alike. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, meditating, traveling, and talking! She also loves spending time with the most important people in her life, including her son, family, friends, co-workers, and sorority sisters.
