In 1950 George Lindsay published his seminal work "An Aid to Timing". This quickly disappearing paper contains Lindsay's only description of the long cycle and its component multiple and basic cycles. These cycles explain how the models in Carlson's previous book "George Lindsay and the Art of Technical Analysis" are to be overlaid on the Dow Industrials index. The book also contains a chapter on Lindsay's 22 year Overlay, a review of Lindsay's standard intervals, and a case study covering the entire decade of the 1950s.

There are two things that strike me about Ed Carlson and his new book. First, Ed is the defacto expert on the topic akin to Steve Nison and candlesticks. Second, the subject matter rips the skin off market analysis as it delves into muscle, nerves and bone. Carlson explores how events unfold in the market not unlike a Tom DeMark. And in a similar way, this book is not for the casual investor. If you are willing to put in the mental effort to understand what is written here, the payoff of genuine understanding about how the market moves will be priceless.

Ed Carlson's new book on the work of George Lindsay is a must read. Actually, this is a book that you don't read, this is a book that you study. Lindsay introduced some of the more innovative cycle work in the annals of cycle research. Lindsay was a rather controversial figure but was highly respected by his peers.

Ed Carlson has, in this fine book, rescued from the dusty archives of Technical Market Analysis, the important work of one of the early masters of the craft, George Lindsay. In the age of computer drawn charts, instant indices and lightning-fast trading the principles put forth by Lindsay are as applicable today as they were a lifetime ago. Carlson has preserved the actual words and examples of Lindsay's but has, with his annotations, brought back to life principles that are basic to markets and that must be understood for all who want to know how markets move. This book is a must read for all serious students of all trading markets.

Cycle analysis is still a quite under-represented technique in technical analysis. With this book Ed Carlson opens a virtually forgotten treasure in this field. George Lindsay was one of THE pioneers in the field of cycle analysis and his work can be truly described as ground breaking. Ed has made the extraordinary contribution of describing the complex techniques of Lindsay in an intuitive and practicable way. This book is a MUST read for everyone who believes that the financial markets, economies and, indeed, the entire world are driven by a fascinating natural phenomenon - Cycles!!

Ed Carlson's last book, George Lindsay and the Art of Technical Analysis, was our Stock Trader's Almanac 2012 " Best Investment Book of the Year". George Lindsay is surely one of the stock market's all-time greats as the discoverer of his famous "Three Peaks and a Domed House" pattern. In this latest opus Carlson delves even deeper into the realm of Lindsay's market timing and analysis methodology and once again masterfully brings these unique and amazingly accurate techniques to the palm of your hands. Read and understand Lindsay's market interpretations and you automatically become a superior investor or trader.

I believe that some of the points I have uncovered will go into the ultimate solution, although someone else may have to re-discover them.
