9780615735542: CELESTIAL BODIES IN ORBIT: Memoirs of The Unknown Stripper

If you want someone's attention, just whisper..."I used to be a stripper."

Eve Littlepage takes us orbiting through her transformation from small-town flower-child of the 60s into dancer Lisa Doolittle as she enters the quirky world of 70s striptease clubs to escape a dangerous situation, only to find the world she's escaped to has dangers of it's own...and every day is like Halloween.

Laced with references to the I Ching, ghostly visitations, spiritual epiphanies, and other mystical themes, Eve's story is a tale of perseverance, resilience, and hope, sprinkled with humor and insight. It's about choices and the ripple effect they create.

It's Eve's 'secret past' - for your entertainment!

From the Author:

On stage I sometimes witnessed a phenomenon I called 'The Keyhole Effect.' I'd be dancing my heart out in nothing more than a G-string, and realize the patrons were not looking at me, but craning their necks to peer between my naked legs at something behind me. I would turn to see why their heads were twisted at comical angles, and find that the velvet curtain had caught on itself, leaving a sliver of open space. Through this keyhole-sized sliver, if one cocked one's head just so, one might steal a glimpse of that mysterious cubbyhole of stripper's sanctuary known as the dressing room.

No matter who was onstage, or what they were doing, if the 'Keyhole' occurred, it drew the guys' attention like a magnet. What was this fascination? The ladies behind the curtain were not any more naked than the dancer on stage. This yearning to peek through the keyhole is not limited to men who frequent strip clubs. The most common word we all utter by the age of three is "Why?" Curiosity fuels the human imagination and has played an integral part in our evolution.

For those of you who wish to peek through the keyhole, I invite you 'backstage' to glimpse a part of my life I have kept hidden from most, until now. It was an era when so many times I thought, This stuff doesn't happen in real life, it's like something out of a book or movie. I offer you my story, for your reading adventure. Enjoy! - Eve Littlepage

From the Back Cover:

"I can heartily recommend Eve Littlepage's book...Her spiritual trip was as interesting to me as her experiences in ten years of stripping." - Dusty Summers, Author and Burlesque Hall of Fame Legend

Book Description Littlepage Press, United States, 2012. Paperback. Book Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. Eve Littlepage made her living as striptease dancer Lisa Doolittle in the suburbs of Boston for ten years, from the mid-1970s through the mid-80s. Her memoir is about how she fell into this marginalized profession, some of the craziness that happened while she was in it, and how she struggled to find a way out and into a more wholesome life. Littlepage uses a unique vehicle for sharing her story: it is told interview-style to a fictional author named Stella Mars. This unusual method evokes a sense that one is eavesdropping on a very private conversation as Eve shares her secrets with Stella. The story weaves memories of her personal life together with reflections on her stripping career, and shows how the contrasting aspects of the two played off of each other as she evolved and grew through her varied experiences. Though metaphysics is not the main focus, Eve s story is laced with references to the I Ching, ghostly visitations, spiritual epiphanies, and other mystical themes. It may offer hope and inspiration to anyone who has ever felt stuck in a job or relationship that seemed impossible to escape. It is a tale of perseverance, resilience, and hope, sprinkled with humor and insight. One reader called it, . . a coming-of-age story with more universal appeal than one might expect in a stripper s memoir. It s about choices and the ripple effect they create. It s Eve s secret past - for your entertainment!. Bookseller Inventory # APC9780615735542
