RAMJET – My Secret Life With PTSD is an autobiography that covers the author’s life from his early days as a naval aviator, a devastating accident, and his subsequent, fractured pursuit of the American Dream. Whatever successes he achieved were dashed, but the answer to the question “Why?” always eluded him. 40 years after the accident that left him physically and mentally injured, he was diagnosed with PTSD. This is the story of his difficult journey and recovery.

My life has been a tattered masterpiece of jobs and relationships that should have worked, but never did. Careers included flying with the Navy, commercial real estate, and truck driving. Interspersed along the way were periods when I dropped out to survive doing other things – like being a waiter, jeep tour driver, cabbie, bartender, inn keeper, gallery owner, used car salesman, photographer, and artist. The painful truth is that I suffered through 35 jobs after I left the Navy. More than anything, however, I wanted my life to be filled with art. In 2005, I woke up in a Veteran’s Administration hospital. The diagnosis was for PTSD and a degenerative back injury, both going back to an accident in Vietnam. I have not been able to return to work, but continue to be creative – and write RAMJET – My Secret Life With PTSD.
