God uses broken people, broken lives, and broken hearts. He takes those broken things and uses them to make something beautiful. That process is a journey, and these poems are about just such a journey. While we often can’t choose our circumstances, we can always choose our responses. For me, for today, I choose joy. You can too.

Rita is a writer, poet, author and speaker, who has been writing since she was a child and fell in love with the magic of words. Her writing credits include "Educational Leadership Journal" and "The Greenville Standard." Her poetry has also been published in a variety of publications. When Rita moved to Alabama in 2005, she brought her love of writing and poetry with her. To that end, she has brought a "Day of Poetry" to various schools in Alabama. She has also participated in "Poets and Painters," a collaborative effort of artists and poets, and she is the founder of "Writers Anonymous," a local poetry group that meets monthly to read their poetry and to both challenge and encourage other poets. In April 2012, Rita was a featured poet at "A Night of Poetry" in Pell City. She has also appeared as a featured poet on the Virginia Cable Channel 10 production of "Poetic Expressions." She is a member of the Alabama State Poetry Society, Writers Anonymous, and the St. Clair County Council of the Arts. Rita is dedicated to bringing hope and encouragement to hurting people. She does that through her poetry and other writings and through her public speaking. As well as continuing to write poetry, she has also written a non-fiction book entitled, "Precious Prodigal," which will be available in the next few months. She currently posts to a blog by that same name at www.preciousprodigal.com. Rita also speaks at churches and other organizations and institutions on a variety of subjects. She can be contacted through her internet website. When she is not spending time with her six children or some of the grandchildren, working on her book or writing for her blog, she enjoys travel and anything that promotes writing or poetry.
