9780615892337: Old Souls in a New World: The Secret History of the Cherokee Indians (Cherokee Chapbooks # 7)

What if the history of America's largest Indian nation is actually a polite modern fiction, one invented by "anthropologists and other friends"? In this sweeping revisionist study of the Cherokee Indians, a scholar trained in classical philology and the new science of genetics discloses the inside story of his tribe. Combining evidence from historical records, esoteric sources like the Keetoowah and Shalokee Warrior Society, archeology, linguistics, religion, myth, sports and music, and DNA, this first new take on the subject in a hundred years guides the reader, ever so surely, into the secret annals of the Eshelokee, whose true name and origins have remained hidden until now. The narrative starts in the third century BCE and concludes with the Cherokees' removal to Indian Territory in the nineteenth century, when all standard histories just begin. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Jews, Romans and Phoenicians have long departed from the world stage. The Cherokee remain after more than two thousand years and are their heirs.

From the Author:

The Cherokee are the largest Indian nation in the U.S., and for that matter, the world. They lay claim to the longest continuity of any people outside India and China, older than the Greeks, Romans, Jews, Egyptians, Persians, Turks, Arabs and any European country. It is ironic if they turn out, as I have argued throughout this book, to have significant Greek and Jewish roots. Greco-Roman civilization and Judeo-Christian ideas and traditions are seen as high points in man's cultural achievements. This type of idealization has been denied to Native Americans, who are perceived as fundamentally un-European, un-modern, un-progressive. With a fresh look, perhaps some of the same qualities we admire in Greek philosophers and heroes of the Bible can now be glimpsed in American Indians and their descendants.

From the Back Cover:

Using a combination of DNA studies, esoteric teachings of the Keetoowah and historical research, Yates presents the Jewish and Eastern Mediterranean origins of the Cherokee. He finds that they originally spoke Greek, practiced elements of Judaism and engaged in Olympics-style sports. Read about the real genesis of the Cherokee in a Ptolemaic expedition to circumnavigate the world and establish the first international dateline. Discover the true meaning of their tribal name, never before revealed outside their secret societies.Ten years in the making, this new history of the Cherokee Indians will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about them.
