Susan Fawcett taught English at Bronx Community College after graduate work at the University of London and Columbia University. The idea for the books grew out of her frustration that adult students needed remediation, but the only materials available were either too abbreviated (handbooks) or patronizing, with a tone more appropriate for middle school. Fawcett strives to keep students engaged while arming them with the writing and thinking skills they need. She writes full time and lives with her husband in New York and Miami. She presents nationally on college composition and critical thinking.About the Author:
