James M. Cooper is a professor and former dean of the school of education at the University of Virginia. His most recent work is in the field of teacher education policy, particularly as it relates to preparing teachers to use technology effectively. He chaired NCATE's task force on technology and teacher education, and is currently serving on the American Association of University Women's commission on "Gender, Technology, and Teacher Education." He is the author of Classroom Teaching Skills, 7/e (Houghton Mifflin, 2003).
