The central theme of the text is that business-oriented strategic management can improve the success of health care organizations in a turbulent environment.
Current health care examples are integrated throughout the 12 chapters of text material, organized around a model of strategic management. Step-by-step, students are presented with the theory of strategic management and a process to carry out strategic management. Additionally, six to ten actual current situations are presented in each chapter as perspectives.
New to the Third Edition: Chapters 1 and 2 have been combined to present the model of strategic management earlier, strategic change was moved from old Chapter 2 to Chapter 6 to better connect the strategy evaluation process with strategic change.
