The purpose of this book is to be easy tp read and to offer revision of the sort of course in human physiology that is widely taught to students of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and the like. In this book, detailed discussion of experimental investigation is omitted, as is extensive referencing to the original literature. Rather, the book provides a structured overview of human physiology, highlighting the major principles and mechanisms of the various body systems, thus enabling students to assimilate and retain the key facts in human physiology. Although multi-authored, the chapters are structured in the same way, with sub-sections and headings set out at the beginning of each chapter. This approach ensures easy access to information. All the chapters have been rewritten and heavily edited with the intention of giving greater uniformity of style.
