Richard Campbell (Dick) McBride (1913-1990) was born into a distinguished pastorlist family in South Australia. He spent his childhood on several of the stations owned at that time by his great grandfather R J M McBride and grandfather W J McBride. His parents moved to Western Australia in 1928. The first few years in Western Australia were spent on a farm, and station in the north west, but after service during the war with the Survey Corps, his work thereafter was a surveyor and pastoral inspector in the Northern Territory, and finally his own business.
