About the Author:

Michael Lee is a mortgage researcher, educator and freelance journalist. In late 2000 he began developing Australia’s most controversial pro-consumer mortgage broker models before becoming Founder and Consumer Advocate for bSmart and Mates Rates Mortgage Brokers. Disillusioned, in 2008, Lee left the mortgage industry selling up all interests so he could lift the lid on industry practices and secrets that keep borrowers in debt. He has also been a senior manager for a Top 3 multinational computer services company, responsible for hundreds of staff across the Asia Pacific Region in addition to the management and delivery of a multi-million dollar budget. Lee attributes his financial literacy, investment ability and success to a lifetime passion for property, an open heart and a cautious mind. Lee’s mortgage tips, research and articles have appeared in national magazines and numerous newspapers nationwide. He speaks on mortgage insights, consumer rights, industry ethics and other subjects. He has appeared on national television and radio and has also appeared before Federal Government Inquiries as a lobbyist for consumer rights. Lee is a full member of the Australian Society of Authors. People, ethics, the environment and property are his professed passion and he continues to work actively in all fields. To date Lee has placed over 60 acres of native and regenerated forest in perpetual trust for the benefit of future generations with, he says, more to come.
