In a fascinating overview of herbal medicine, Jill Eisen allows a series of scholars to make her points, except for some bridging summaries that she herself provides about the history of herbalism and the state of the industry. The testimonies come from people of all ages speaking in a range of accents, but the sound quality is universally high. While Eisen's sympathies with alternative medicine are clear, the program is exceptionally balanced, explaining, for example, why most members of the physician and research communities do not fully understand herbal medicine. The discussions of the historical development of allopathic medicine and the basics of herbal treatments are fascinating.
