From School Library Journal:

PreSchool-1 In six parts, with titles such as ``Getting Ready,'' ``Going to School,'' and ``Playground,'' readers see Button Brown going to his first day at school. Covering some of the same ground as Cohen's popular Will I Have a Friend? (Macmillan, 1967), the story follows the rabbit Button and his happy progress from home to school. Other rabbit children in his class show doubt, cry, or speak timidly, and Button is inadvertently ignored by some potential friends. But all leave school happily, having conquered the first day. The entire text is ballooned dialogue which makes for jumpy reading aloud with groups unless the reader points to or otherwise indicates who's doing the speaking. Full-color watercolor, pencil, and ink drawings give this story an upbeat, contemporary, humorous, and familiar look. Most five year olds will nod in accord at school details and emotions; preschoolers will see it as reassuring information about the road ahead. Susan Hepler, Windsor Public Library, Conn.

From Publishers Weekly:

Those irrepressible rabbits from Schweninger's Birthday Wishes, Christmas Secrets and Halloween Surprises are back, and one of them, Button Brown, is facing school for the very first time. Button consoles his envious younger sister, who wants to go with him, by offering to play school when he gets home. In the classroom, he resolutely watches his mother and father leave the schooland himfar behind. But soon he's involved in drawing, milk time, the playground and making new friends. After school, true to his word, Button is the "teacher" in a game of school. The rabbit world is a genial one that touches onsometimes in pictures alonemany of the concerns all schoolbunnies have. While other books cover similar material, this one is fresh and amusing, alive with the paints, crayons, pencil sharpeners and tears of any first day. Ages 26.
