The last millennium has not been a great success. We have advanced in science and technology, but not much in human behaviour. Is it possible that this has been due to poor thinking? Edward de Bono maintains that the thinking of the last millennium has been concerned with WHAT IS. This is the thinking of analysis, criticism and argument. What we have not sufficiently developed is the thinking concerned with WHAT CAN BE. This is thinking that is creative and constructive, and which seeks to solve conflicts and problems by designing a way forward. The emphasis of his proposed new thinking is on design and not judgement.

Edward de Bono's backlist titles include bestsellers such as; TEXTBOOK OF WISDOM, TEACH YOURSELF TO THINK, SIX THINKING HATS, HOW TO BE MORE INTERESTING and most recently, SIMPLICITY. He lives in London W1.From AudioFile:
If you need to improve your creative thinking abilities or learn some in the first place, de Bono offers techniques and examples. As long as you understand the current management jargon, you'll have no problems with de Bono's theories, which include references to "design thinking" and "six thinking hats." David Ackroyd is admirable; however, his words echo. There are several places where phrases are repeated until the editing staff woke up to listen. Otherwise, the reading is clear and understandable for the modern manager to absorb. M.B.K. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
