Here is serious but rewarding listening! The three programs in this package are detailed and thoughtful, describing each scientist's life and work in an absorbing narrative brightened with frequent excerpts from the subjects' own texts, and from the writings of other writers and philosophers. (I wish the many performers had been credited. In fact, I wish the author or authors had been credited-this is one of the least informative packages I've ever handled.) Be sure you're a fan of Edwin Newman's dry and formal narrative style before you invest in this hefty audiobook. S.P. (c) AudioFile 2000, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
