Text: English, Hebrew (translation)From Library Journal:
Acting on fears that Iraq would use the plutonium by-products of its nuclear reactor to create atomic bombs for Israeli target cities, Israeli air force jets destroyed the Iraqi main reactor outside Baghdad on Sunday, June 7, 1981. Nakdimon, an Israeli journalist, has compiled a detailed account of the complex events that formed the background for the still-controversial raid. The actual air strike is only a small part of the narration. The Machiavellian machinations of modern diplomacy and the point-counterpoint negotiations of the Israelis attempting to thwart Iraq's entry into the nuclear club make up most of the book. The rich detail is fascinating; however, the tone is sometimes almost shrilly defensive. Recommended for large collections in this area. David P. Snider, Casa Grande P.L., Ariz.
