In my teens, I saw Elvis perform live three times -- once in Las Vegas, once at Madison Square Garden, and once at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Big Elvis fan, you say; well, I wasn't really until I started going to the concerts with my older brother, who was a huge fan. The Las Vegas show was the most awesome -- staying awake for the midnight show wasn't easy when I was 14 or 15, but my brother kept nudging me whenever I started drifting off. People seemed to have traveled from all around the United States to be there; I think a woman who sat near me was from Kentucky. Ages ranged from me right up to people in their sixties and seventies, which shows that Elvis had the power to wow us all. We and my parents had flown into town that afternoon, and we were heading back to New York the next day; there aren't many performers, now or then, who would get us to make an overnight trip of almost 3000 miles. How much more convenient it was when Elvis started appearing in NY!
This is the book for all those Elvis fans who have been collecting for 40 years, and those who are new to the world of Elvis memorabilia. Whether it's a rare promotional record or an Elvis keychain, you'll find it in this book. I don't know many people who would sell items from their Elvis horde, but it's great to know what things are worth, and what else is out their to try to pick up. To real Elvis fans, he's never really "left the building"!
