Oversized (21" tall x 15" wide) modern reprint of this fascinating survey of the Great Western Railway and its viaducts, bridges, tunnels, and stations. Originally published in 1846, its 29 plates have been frequently reproduced for over a century. This volume includes all the railway plates but excludes the final four original plates and the appendix, all of which dealt with churches. The volume also includes a 58 page history and descriptive account of the railway's route (which was published as part of Bourne's original book), gradient profiles, and two maps. For this edition, the unbacked plates have been printed on high quality paper so that they can be easily removed and framed, if desired. 90 pages.
