9780681452480: The Mercury Transition: Career-Change Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship : How to Escape from Lifetime Security to Follow Your Impossible Dream

From Library Journal

This slight volume purports to provide insights for potential entrepreneurs who wish to start their own businesses. The author, who gave up the security of a tenured position to start his own film production company, describes how others may also make career changes. His advice consists of pop psychology and the juxtaposition of quotations from recognized individuals with his own, presented as though they were of equal value. For example, "Yogi Berra: It ain't over till it's over. Atchity: When all else fails, run away." An Atchity suggestion for reducing overhead is toughing it-"eating lobster at home instead of out." Save for a rainy day? Atchity: "It never rains in Southern California." Other financial advice: "It's not worth saving a penny because a penny will never be (much) more than a penny." Don't spend your pennies on this book.
