This textbook is the premiere textbook on the subject of diagnosis in orthopedic medicine It has a heavy emphasis on Prolotherapy a form of injection technique which serves to proomote healing of injured ligaments. This textbook is a 'must' for any practitioner wanting to become skilled in musculo-skeletal medicineAbout the Author:
Dr. Dorman had an eclectic up-bringing, before turning to medicine. It included service in the Israeli paratroopers in the 1956 Sinai campaign. He graduated from Edinburgh University, Scotland in medicine and then followed an diversified career in several branches of medicine. This was followed by a residency equivalent in internal medicine and cardiology which led to the Membership in the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. During a sojourn in Canada, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and became board certified in internal medicine in the United States.
Pursuing the problems of chest pain of non-cardiac origin he developed an interest in orthopaedic medicine in which his main contributions to medicine and science ensued. Dr. Dorman has practiced and studied the use of prolotherapy extensively and has contributed substantially to research in this area. Most ligament failure affects the low back and the neck. Studying this area led D! r. Dorman into developing a new understanding of the role of the human pelvis in locomotion in which ligaments play a sentinel role. Dr. Dorman is one physician who describes himself as a ligament doctor. Dr. Dorman has achieved recognition as an author a editor of several texts on these subjects and has produced a hard hitting medical newsletter in the last several years called Fact Fiction & Fraud in Modern Medicine which can be obtained via his web site. The web site also houses reproduction of many of his articles dealing with the philosophy of medicine and science, as well as articles on innovation in the musculo-skeletal system.
This short odyssey led Dr. Dorman to finding himself described by his peers as an alternative practitioner. This designation turned out to be prophetic. In the last ten years he has studied and incorporated several new and controversial methods into his practice. Some o! f these have included the use of Dark Filed Microscopy for the selection of patient specific remedies, based mostly on the research of a fascinating German zoologist, Gnther Enderlein. This line of interest has led to some amazing therapeutic outcomes. Dr. Dorman practices at the Tahoma Clinic in Kent WA.
