Where would we be without our friends?
In her heart of hearts every woman knows, as Lois Wyse sagely explains, that men may come and go but a true friend is forever.
Bestselling author Lois Wyse turns to a subject that is central to every woman's life, friendship, in a poignant collection of stories, anecdotes, and poems certain to warm the hearts of women of all ages -- and of all of their best friends. At nine, nineteen, or ninety, the one constant that marks each stage in a woman's life is the importance of the friendships she has made. In the best of times and in the worst of times, it is our friends who sustain us, cheer us, and see us through whatever surprises life throws our way.
Women Make the Best Friends is a loving celebration of women's friendships. It is a book that not only pays tribute to the power of friendship but also gives thanks to those people we hold most dear -- our friends.

This chirpy collection of anecdotes interspersed with quotes and lines of verse, compiled by Wyse, an author (Grandchildren Are So Much Fun I Should Have Had Them First) and a contributing editor to Good Housekeeping magazine, testifies to the importance of friendship in women's lives. The accounts of early childhood, school and adult friendships describe the strong bonds forged between females, with only a few stories about male-female relationships included. Sources for most of Wyse's examples of friendship experiences, which range from the mildly insightful to the syrupy and banal, are not given, but one instance was contributed by journalist Nina Totenberg, and several are obviously drawn from the author's life.
