Step Forward! is a four-unit program for adults who seek a more serious weight-management support group. The four units provide materials for 40 weeks. Structured like traditional 12-step programs, Step Forward! can be an on-going source of support for group members, one they can join at any time. Step Forward/meetings center on sharing meditations on Scripture, Bible study related to recovery topics, sharing food plans and exercise, learning or reinforcing facts about nutrition, celebrating progress, and prayer. Participants are encouraged to change "one day at a time." In the Participant's Handbook, each person can record homework, reflections, meditations, and prayers.

It is so exciting when I hear people say that the principles in the "Step Forward" program have helped them to feel better than they ever have. Most of them tell me that they feel not only physically healthier, but emotionally and spiritually healthier as well. While working the program, they learn how to draw closer to Christ and taste his delicious fruit of the Spirit. Along with self-control in their eating, they also begin to experience things like more love, joy, peace, and patience in their lives.
Lately, many people have e-mailed me to ask about my doctrine so I will tell you what I believe:
I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. I believe that we are saved by God's grace because of what Christ did for us on the cross, not by our works. I believe that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one.
I designed Step Forward to be non-denominational. We emphasize the importance of having a closer relationship with Christ and relying on his grace to give us the power to become more like the people he wants us to be.
I offer a healthy well-balanced Food Plan similar to the food pyramid. There are no "forbidden foods" or strict diets.From the Inside Flap:

Developed in Four 12-Session Units:
Unit 1--Steps 1 and 2
In this beginning unit participants admit their powerlessness over food, explore the vicious cycles that stand in the way of recovery, and learn to tap into God's power to do for them what they cannot do for themselves. "I can't; God can" are breakthrough discoveries.
Unit 2--Steps 3 and 4
Participants continue in recovery as they recognize specific worries and turn them over to God. Identifying the roots of their compulsive relationship with food, vicious cycles, and ineffective behaviors help them begin to accept God's grace and forgiveness and to forgive themselves.
Unit 3--Steps 4-7
Participants inventory fears, poor priorities and dishonesty; learn to stop beating themselves up for the way they are; become ready to let God change them; and learn to set priorities for actions, thoughts, time and calories.
Unit 4--Steps 8-12
Participants learn to use their newfound skills and increased intimacy with God to repair and renew all relationships and to model their recovery to others.
