This intriguing book by the author of The Best Is Yet to Come: Renewing American Judaism adroitly addresses the ethical issues that face U.S. businesses in the wake of the 1980s "greed is good" mentality, which led to massive governmental deficits and layoffs by debt-laden companies. Dosick focuses on Biblical concepts because, he states, by bringing these enduring values into the modern marketplace "the contemporary business world can be transformed into a place where . . . decency and dignity are the everyday guides and goal." Dosick's "ten commandments" are variations of the traditional teachings of a myriad of religions. His thoughts on treating employees and customers with respect, providing a positive work environment and putting work in the proper perspective are moving, as are his ideas on marketing and employee development.
