Many contemporary parents want nothing more than to raise a superbaby, and numerous books have responded to their concern. The authors of the present book have launched an attack on this phenomenon. Defining Too Precious children as those whose parents "are constantly shaping, molding, worrying and indulging them," they argue that such pampering can hurt more than it can help. The book examines the factors contributing to "too precious-ness" and suggests what countermeasures to take. Unlike many parenting books, this one deals with adolescents as well as younger children. The list of suggested readings is helpful. All books on parenting are in great demand, and this one, with its novel perspective, is recommended for public libraries. Diane K.
