Heart to Heart begins with a first-person account of a man discovering that he has heart disease and then undergoing bypass surgery at the pioneering Cleveland Clinic. The patient is Richards, former managing editor of Patient Care . He has written this book to provide other victims of heart disease with a primer on the basics of the disease. He explains in simple nontechnical language the risk factors, diagnostic procedures, and the surgery itselfwhether one should have it, and what happens before, during, and after. Public libraries whose collections are weak in the area of heart disease will want this one: it's a nonclinical, nonthreatening treatment of the subject.
